Paying It Forward
…Can Have a Long Tail
I recently conducted a Joychiever workshop and heard a fantastic example about the impact of kindness and generosity.
As we were discussing kindness, a participant shared that he bought a coffee for the person in line behind him every day…EVERY DAY! While notable, that’s not the coolest part.
After a few weeks of doing this, his regular barista shared that his act of kindness inspired others to also give…and give…and give. In fact, one day, the giving continued for 22 customers in a row! By receiving a coffee, each person was inspired to pay for the next patron. Amazing!
Now, it’s become a fun game to see how long they can keep the streak going, and even on days when he’s not going to the office or needing a coffee, he still goes to the coffee shop to inspire kindness and giving.
Do you have experiences with paying it forward? I want to hear about them!! I’d love to create a list of ideas to share with all of you, as well as use for my own inspiration.
