Invest in Joy-Inducing Friendships
I’m inspired this week by a Barbra Streisand song.
“People,
People who need people,
Are the luckiest people in the world…”
And she’s right! The Harvard Study of Adult Development, which has followed 724 people since 1938 has found relationships to be the prevailing factor for healthy aging.
Yet, we don’t need a study to tell us this. Just look at what has happened during COVID. Zoom Happy Hours became the rage. Grandparents learned how to FaceTime. Watching complete strangers’ video snippets on TikTok became a guilty pleasure.
It is further evidenced now by people seeking outside entertainment, dining outside and filling the airports, at least in some countries, as COVID has come under more control. If you live in a place where restrictions haven’t lifted yet, hang on to hope. It will be in your future, and I promise to keep FaceTiming with you in the meantime.
