Incorporate “Stay” Questions into Your Check-ins
The message of “pay attention to your employees as human-beings” is iterated again and again. I know you are regularly checking in with your team members to see how they are doing and how you can support them.
Here are some questions you can incorporate into your regular 1:1’s to create stickiness and explore what you can do to ensure they “stay” with your organization.
- What do you look forward to when you come to work each day?
- What do you like most or least about working here?
- What keeps you working here?
- If you could change something about your job, what would that be?
- What would make your job more satisfying?
- How do you like to be recognized?
- What talents are not being used in your current role?
Regularly checking in with employees on engagement gives you a better idea of where your team members can upskill next, where they might be a risk of burnout and how you can better serve your team.
